Who is Julia Fikse?

Julia Fikse

Julia Fikse, NBC-HWC, FMCHC, is a Christian health and wellness coach, author, speaker, mentor, and teacher. For more than 35 years, she has helped people find hope, healing, and a stronger relationship with Jesus.

Julia’s work is deeply personal. She has struggled with obesity and faced multiple surgeries, difficult recoveries, and seasons when improving her health felt overwhelming. She understands what it is like to feel discouraged, limited, and unsure how to move forward.

Through her own health journey, Julia discovered that food struggles are rarely just about food. Unhealthy eating patterns are often connected to emotions, stress, physical health, past experiences, habits, and spiritual life. She also learned that meaningful health victories are possible, even when progress is difficult.

These experiences led Julia to become a professional health and wellness coach and create resources that combine biblical truth with evidence-based coaching strategies. She founded One Step to Wellness® to help others regain hope, move forward, and pursue health victories that can improve every part of life.

What is the Dear Food® series?

Dear Food series, four workbooks

Dear Food® is a Christian book and workbook series that helps people break free from unhealthy food behaviors, understand emotional eating, and develop a healthier, more peaceful relationship with food.

The series is built around a simple truth: food struggles are rarely just about food. They are often intertwined with emotions, stress, habits, beliefs, relationships, physical health, and spiritual life.

Dear Food® helps readers uncover those connections and understand what is driving their eating patterns. Instead of offering another temporary diet, the series guides readers toward practical, workable changes that make long-term health and wellness more sustainable and enjoyable.

Through Scripture, personal reflection, practical exercises, health-coaching tools, companion videos, and chapter playlists, readers learn how to:

  • Understand the connection between food, emotions, habits, and faith
  • Identify what is driving unhealthy or emotional eating patterns
  • Break free from food guilt, shame, and all-or-nothing thinking
  • Make realistic choices that support lasting health
  • Strengthen their relationship with God
  • Eat with greater freedom, confidence, and Food Peace™

The four-book Dear Food® series includes foundational and advanced workbooks and a leader guide for churches, Bible studies, and small groups. Readers can complete the books independently or work through them with others in a supportive faith community.
